Capt.

My first bike bite wasn't from a "bike" in the real sense-it was a GoKart minicycle. 2.5hp pull start, kill tab lawnmower engine. The suspension was in the thickness of the foam seat. We beefed it up eventually with a Power Products 6+ hp Kart racing engine. That sucker would do 65mph on the flat!! It had a tiny rear wheel brake, but the real brake shoes were on the feet of the rider. We actually rigged it out to be street legal & licensed in Calif. Had a tendency to blow the centrifgal clutch & shed parts a lot. I used to ride it to various MC trials in & around El Cajon. Got a lot of laughs! Cops hated it,& evasive riding fun was since I could manually sling that little 'cycle over a fence or ditch and be gone.

Never got off it at any speed, so there was no pain, only exhilaration which probably made that first bite take so well. First bites are the most infective and the "bug" is there for life.

A shared Harley Hummer and Triumph Tiger cub followed, with a 30+ year hiatus punctuated with a couple of Vespas.

I got "rebit" when I saw the Savage for the first time last year.
